Here you can see an enlarged scan of the right
eye from this version of Elvis: 2005-zine-elvis-3.htm.
You may need to lean back a little and squint to make the shadows, the
reflected light, the intermediate shadows (i.e. medium shadows) take
on a realistic quality. But in this close up you can see the pencil
work involved to make the effect successful - and that it can be broken
down into pieces - i.e. smaller areas of tone change. This picture is
roughly three times the dimensions of the original drawing. (Makes the
pencil lines seem a little sloppier :-)
